It has been a long Time

I have not written for a long time in my blog
so now I can tell you how the SKI-O season ended.

The 3rd Italian Cup Race
It was a fast middle race, it was quite cold so it was possible to cut everywhere.
It was quite funny but no tecnically demanding, I won with a few seconds advantage.

The 4th Italian Cup Race
I was ill and could only do the race on saturday (sprint relay)
This was the last test before the JWOC

JWOC
As told before I was ill the week before JWOC, so I got not gain my level.
Middle and Long Races where far too long and steep for my fisical condition in this time
Sprint, which actually is my discipline, was quite cool and fast but still I was not in good shape but this was my best result
Relay was lost before I started, I had to start 20min behind leaders on 2nd leg so I did a better training but nevertheless best time of the Italian Team
Party, well lot of alcohol and lot of fun, lots of new people I knew

5th Italian Cup Race
Middle distance I stopped training after Jwoc because I already looked forward to MTB-O
so more than a 2 place was not possible

Italian Long Distance Champs
I choose to make the M18 since I was in Berlin with school week before the race, I won with like 20 seconds my 2nd title this year.
Maybe this was my last race in Junior categories, since I have to gain Elite level within 2 years.

Crazy Championships with crazy results

Middle Distance
It was snwoing like hell when the middle distance were held on Passo Cereda. First Starter was Roberto „Truffa“ Dallavalle the best Italian Foot-orienteerer, since he does not practise cross-country skiing he started with non-waxed crowned skies, actually we made some jokes about him. I started 2mins before, the Fedrigo biggest opponent in all races until now, so I knew I could not make mistakes in the first half not allowing him to reach me. I started as always very fast but on the scooter-tracks especially in climb I could not go faster then 4km/h but I thought this would be the same for everyone, at half the course I always saw entering Fedrigo into controls when I was leaving them, so I know I could not win this race and slowed a bit down. At the end he reached me and we finished together. I was convinced to be 2nd but Truffa who could run on scooter tracks was the fastest this day and became Italian SKI-O champ, I arrived 3rd
Sprint Distance
This race was quite flat in the first part so I knew i had to push very hard there to get an advantage before entering in last part which was with some climb. I felt very well had no doubts on the Routechoices in 1st part which was on a lake (=flat), on second part i hesitated a little bit but had always a good flow. At finish I was 1st with exact the same time as Fedrigo and we were waiting Truffa luckily he was behind us because he lost 1:30min on the lake.
So everyone of us 3 goes home with a Gold medal an Italy has another good SKI-O athlet

Ready for Italian Champs

after the good results in switzerlnad I think I am ready for Italian Sprint and Middle Champs in Primiero. Althoug i had to do quite a lot for school and am a little bit ill I think I can win at least one of the 2 races, also because I have new wonderweapon: a Carbon Lite Fischer ski which slides as hell =). Unluckily 2 days of sucking school until I can (hopefully) get soem titles and complete the qualifaction for JWOC in Romania

Hallo Schweiz!!!

From 28-30th December the Italian Junior and Elite Team was in Gluringen(Switzerland) for 2 Swiss-Cup-races.
I had to work as translator for my team since I am the only one who knows German well, but this was quite funny.
At first evening I got a surprising information, I had to run in MEN-Elite (I am still for 3 Years Junior), first I was a little shocked but then I saw it as a challenge and put myself the goal to beat one of Italians Elite athletes.

Second day there was the first race a long-distance WRE but for my luck it was not too long just 11.2km with 430m climb. At the beginning I found a good flow and skied quite fast on the small tracks, some wrong RC but not bad run, at the end of 1st lap the Italian Guy who started 6mins behind me. I could keep me in front of him with some good RC.s but on the flat big tracks he got and overtook me. At second lap I was not anymore in a good shape so I had to reduce speed and did some concentration mistakes and at last control the Italian Elite skier who started 12mins behind me reached me. At the end results seems better than it is, I arrived 15th and other Italian 10th, 13th, 14th but the gap was quite big as expectet. But I did 2-3 best Italian splits (on scooter tracks)

Yesterday there was the Sprint on the program and I had same goal as the day before, beat an Eltie runner, the coursesetting did me a favour and tehre where just 2legs  on big tracks, I found a good flow and did only 1 mistake and many many times I felt because of the wet snow which was really soft. I was 2mins behind best Italians and beated on of them =))). So I am quite happy and today there is gonna be a party at home.

Merry X-Mas + plans for next weeks

I want to wish merry X-mas to all Blog-visitors, have nice holidays and a good 2010.
On 28th December I will leave with the National-team to Gluringen (Switzerland) for 3 days, we will participate at 2 races there to see a bit the gap to Swiss Team. I don’t know what expects me, since last week (on a known map) I had not a huge gap to them, but we will see. On the 2nd January there is planned a X-country-skiing race valid for selection, but I am not sure to compete yet. Then on 9th-10th January there are Italian middle and long Champs, my goals for them is getting at least 1 title and qualify for JWOC definitly (twice 105% of Winner or win 1 race).
I am still deciding if on 17th January I will go to East-Tyrol for a Austria Cup race or if I will make the long journey to the Italian Appenins for a Italian Cup race.

The Revenge or „omg is this a icicle in your face?“

Very arctic temperatures at 2nd Ski-o weekend this year. Some spoke about -20° but i think actually the minimum temp. was about -16°. The races were not well organized since there were neither a bulletin start-lists or distances but a real athlete does not need such unimportant information =). Saturday Tyrolean relay in M20 with Adrian Wickert, it was a little fast so quite though race, the format of Sprint-relay with 2 legs per competitor is basically interesting but this race was just shitty. Starting with the fact that 2 SI-Units did not work, and my Si-Card 6 stick did not work on old stations, then legs were almost the same so 2nd lap was just skiing and last but not least there were no results, nevertheless that we and our opponents were sure that we win we got the price for 3rd place =(. Very bad race.

Todays race was even worse, start was delayed for 40min there were 2 if not more missing controls in the terrain and in the results many people had not their real time. But anyway I am quiet happy with my race today, I expected Swiss Skiers much better than they really were. Valentin who started 2min behind me reached me at 2/3 of the race and I could almost keep his pace so I arrived with 2 and a half minutes distance to him. And i beat Federico taking revenge for loosing last week. Now we are even in Italian Cup (for which Swiss people do not count) and I think I can look forward to Jwoc for which I am almost qualified

2nd Weekend 2nd Italian Cup

Tomorrow i will leave for the second weekend to Enego (VE). Saturday there is a Sprint-Relay on the program and I gonna copete in a german-speaking-relay with Adrian from Innsbruck (AUT). I dont have special goals for the relay but just wanna check out my form in short races as the Italian Sprint Champs are quite close. My objective for sunday is clearly take revenge to Federico and win the race to take the lead in Italian Cup M20. I am expecting arctic temperatures since at my home we have currently -12° so I gonna wax very cold my skies.
As i rode now also the Swiss-National-Team will be present at the races, I have a ver very good one 2min behind me I will have to try to follow him as long as possible luckily Federico has any good skier (except me =) ) behind him so I hope with a little help of Valentin Gafner I may beat him

Wish me good luck and tell me if you like the new design

Season Take-off tomorrow

Tomorrow season will start with Italy`s first Ski-o-athlon (part of the orienteering olympic project) actually it is a little bit like Biathlon but instead of shooting you punch the right control. I have no idea if it will be hard or easy but I can say honestly that I did all what I could do for this. The distances scares me a bit, it is about 6km on big tracks which means a deadly high pace, but since the really important Jwoc-qualification is on Sunday I am not sure yet if I will give all.
Maybe it is more important to punch right controls. I don’t know. But I know my skies are prepared in the best possible way even if the new skies did not arrive yet, but I am pretty sure to have a fast ski tomorrow.
Here is the link to our Teams-blog where you can read infos and results maybe before they appear on the fiso.it page

Wish me Good-luck and let’s hope the best
